The GM MDI 2 is the Global Diagnostic Interface tool designed for both current and upcoming GM vehicles. It succeeds the original MDI released in 2007, providing a more compact communication module with enhanced processing power and security features. This enables quicker data transfer between a vehicle’s onboard ECU network and an auxiliary CAN bus.

REQUIRED DIAGNOSTIC SOFTWARE
• For GM vehicles from 1996-2013*, Tech2WIN software is needed
• For GM vehicles from 2010 onwards*, GDS2 software must be running on a local PC while the MDI 2 is connected to the vehicle. The connection between the MDI 2 and the PC can be via USB cable or the new wireless feature to thePC or the shop’s wireless network.
